Gareth Timmins

Gareth Timmins is a former Royal Marines Commando, emerging behavioural/cognitive scientist turned published author of: “Becoming the 0.1%: Thirty-four Lessons from the Diary of a Royal Marines Commando Recruit” and “The 0.1% Academy: Master the 7 Mindsets to Maintain Peak Performance“.

While undertaking the thirty-four weeks of Commando training in 2005/06, at the tender age of twenty, he documented his experiences by keeping a never-before captured diary of elite military training. Within his debut book, Gareth utilised his academic grounding to produce and integrate thirty-four unique psychological lessons that people can utilise to achieve cutting-edge, performance thinking and develop an elite mindset.

Gareth is renowned for his insightful and motivational writing. His first book, Becoming the 0.1%, documents his experiences during thirty-four weeks of Commando training, offering unique psychological lessons to help readers develop an elite mindset and achieve peak performance. His follow-up book, The 0.1% Academy, continues this journey, providing readers with 7 key mindsets essential for maintaining top-level performance in any field.

Research

Having previously completed a BSc (Hons) in Forensic Psychology, Gareth is currently exploring PhD Research with the University of Surrey. While preparing the premise for book 3, Gareth is investigating how to ‘Gauge Atmospherics’ in our environment, life-threatening situations, and the link between Rapid Decision-making under pressure and the application of effectiveness in Corporate Environments.

Through the usage and lens of Augmented Reality (AR), he plans to simulate hostile situations in controlled settings to see if we can elicit such phenomena within corporate environments, to facilitate better decision-making practices and thus contribute to corporate innovation.
